When someone mentions The United Kingdom, most people think of Monty Python and rain, of wet London streets, The Beatles, of fish and chips, and the impeccable English grass. Many people are also aware of the fact that the United Kingdom is a highly developed country, but not many know that it is the sixth largest national economy in the whole world, that it was the first industrialized country in the 18th century, and that its air pollution kills about 50.000 people a year. Development and prosperity have their good sides, but that is not the topic of the article. We're here to discuss the nature of The UK and camping possibilities.
As many know, camping is an activity done in the great outdoors, unlike many activities popular today. The point of camping is to leave urban areas, and to go somewhere where one can bond with the outside world. There's only one problem ñ many people don't know how to act in nature, and while they take fresh air, fish, wood for barbeque, water for swimming, they tend to leave plastic bags, empty cans and garbage behind. Among other reasons, this is why eco camping has been invented. With it, you can go on a holiday, rest truly, bond with your family, socialize, have a good time, and yet learn something and be helpful.
Eco camping is an activity which is very suitable for families, because it can bring them together. Various workshops will have an excellent influence on the kids, adults will have their days fulfilled, and sitting around campfire in the evening, with people who think alike is a nice end of the day. People who have had enough stays at fancy hotels in main holiday resorts and are ready to try something new, may find that this type of camping is their thing.
There are a number of things one can learn while camping in this way, they are useful, and learning is fun. Let's start with air pollution. It has already been said how many people die a year due to air pollution, and you can decrease it by using public transport, by being energy efficient, by riding bike more than driving your car, etc. Then we have water pollution. Major pollutants are power plants, factories and oil, but when we dump cooking oil in the toilet, we become pollutants as well. The next thing is recycling. Sometimes we throw glass, plastic and paper in the same garbage bag only because we're lazy to separate them so they could be recycled. You can get knowledge about these things and about many more in eco camps.
Going camping is a rather cheap activity, and accommodation in most eco camps is around 4 ponds per person. In most of them, cars aren't allowed, and accommodation is in tents, yurts and teepees. Since the point of ecology is for people to start being ecological about themselves too, the food is organic, showers are solar and toilets are compost. If you want to do something good for yourself and the community, go to an eco camp, get some education and have fun.
There eco camps all over The United Kingdom, so finding one close to you won't be a problem. Thanks to Great Britain's temperate climate, spending your holiday outside will be more than agreeable. Keep one thing in mind: going camping you'll save up on accommodation, but don't save when buying camping equipment, it needs to be of high quality.
Being useful and aware of the world around us is always a good feeling, however, the majority of human kind seems to lack the two. Stop and think about your kids' future, about water they'll be drinking, and about the quality of soil where the vegetables they'll eat grows, and do a favor for the whole family ñ go camping and learn about environment in an eco camp.
